I just put a few of your photos in my favorites, and I will try to comment on some more as I peruse your gallery further... I have always been a true bird lover; I've grown up with birds around me as pets, and I never tire of watching the ones at the feeders in my back yard. People tend to be pretty skeptical when I explain to them that birds have a lot of personality, but just from your photography I can tell that you grasp it too - and better than I, since you've observed more species and gotten closer to wild birds than I have. I just love that you manage to capture their motion, their playfulness, and personality in your photographs! I am inspired.

My main camera/lens combination for wildlife is the Canon 1D MkII N body and Canon 600mm f4 L IS USM prime lens. If I want to full frame images without any cropping like this image I will add an extension tube to the lens to allow it focus closer than normal

Amazing shot. :) The fact that it was raining doesn't seem to affect your shot, that is very impressive. May I ask what camera and lense you use to take these awesome close up shots? :)

Very nice! I love the colors in this photo! The background colors come back in the birds brest and the fungus. But the grey and black parts of the bird make it stand out so much. And then a very nice dark tree to counter the softness of the background colors.

And the photo is very sharp without looking oversharped! Great job! :D

I love this photo! and it certainly goes into my favs! :+fav:

Ooh and I wanted to ask... why did you choose canon over lets say Nikon for example? (or any other brand of camera's) I'm just wondering... :]

The reason for using Canon goes back to when I first started photography with a Canon FTb-1 35mm film camera. Even then Canon were a good make and I've just stayed faithful to the brand. If I were starting today then it would be either Canon or Nikon with little to chose between them as I like features on both systems.

It is hard to choose between those two...

Right now I don't have enough money yet (I'm a poor student ;)) and to be honest I don't have a clue yet of which camera I'm going to buy, I think it will be either Nikon or Canon. I was very impressed with how fast the Canon 400D starts up and makes the photos, but that's because my current camera is quit slow (in my own opinion) with the starting up and the time between pushing the button and actually making the photo, it makes you miss the moments of action 9 out of 10 times...

Next week it's my mothers birthday and I already know she's going to get a Nikon D50. That gives me the opportunity to test it elaborately :] (after she's done of course ;))

Great shot as usual. I need to ask you something... what kind of lens are better to capture those birds images? I say, focal distance, milimeters, and so on... I'm starting to get some bird pictures, but I am missing a better quality of lens... There are some current pictures in my gallery which you can check.

this is so perfectly composed- like a painting looks like every little thing is specifically put there -the vivid colours of the bockground reflect the more defind ones in focus - and that soft rich orange colour in the fungus and the birds brest
soooo beautiful

Really gorgeous! The color of the fungi on the tree is echoed in the breast of the bird (or vice versa)and is subdued but rich. The bird's position is striking. Great capture.
