20 x 4 minutes @ iso 800
20 x 2 minutes @ iso 800
20 x 1 minutes @ iso 800
20 x 30 seconds @ iso 800

plus flats and darks. Processed in DSS and finished in CS5

Moved to scraps and replaced with a better version

Impressive unguided result Kev :thumbsup: 20 x 30 minutes????? I'm going to assume that that is a typo and should be seconds instead of minutes? My only critique, if I may, is that it looks like you clipped the blackpoint in the histogram, losing detail in the fainter nebulosity around the outside of M42 and The Running Man Nebula. For the shot settings described there should be a lot more detail in the nebula that you have not brought out in your processing. M42 is one of the harder nebulas to image process due to the birghtness of the core and requires careful exposure blending. You can see my attempt at it here if you like [link]

30 minutes unguided would be nice lol I only has a 2 arc second error on polar alignment but 5 minutes was pushing it too much.

I much prefer your version there is far more detail in there. I'll revisit the raw data and see what else is hiding in there. Thank you for your observations :)
