Perseid Meteorite Trailby `Photosbykev

This was a test last night (07/08/10) shooting the early Perseid meteorites with a Canon 7D and 10-22mm lens iso 1600 f3.5. 30 second exposures on continuous drive with NR functions turned off.

Too much light pollution at this location but it helped me sort out the technique for the main event during the early hours of Thursday/Friday 12/13 of August

cool shot... off to scotland in a couple days so might give some star shots a go in the 'dark sky park'... galloway forest :D

It's looking iffy for Thursday but you never know in the UK lol. Just took delivery of a 5D body to play with so hopefully I'll be able to use it's high iso/low noise to the full.

Just seen a great forecast for thursday, wish they'd all stick to the same :D

Never found my 5D too good for noise..

I've been testing the new 5D MkII against my 7D and I think the MkII probably has around two stops or more better noise performance i.e. the noise on the 7D at iso800 is similar to iso3200 on the MkII.

Obviously at iso 100-200 there is very little between them but at high iso the MkII is performing better which is one reason why I bought it.
