I had a good day :) My new 40D turned up so I thought I would christen it with a visit to an area in N Wales where there are 5 Short-eared Owls hunting.

beautiful again :-) the wings look amazing spread out that way. a wonderfull focussed shot too. cool to hear you're close to home as well. I've not got many chances to see owls in north wales- only buzzards and such. we can always hear them at night though. although there was this one and only time i saw a tawny owl hooting away on the roof above my window. i live in the city for most of the year, so no chance of seeing any here :-(
but it's great to see them here- it reminds me of home :-)

comparing it to the 20D it is a significant improvement over what was already a great camera :) I've bought it mainly for macro work where I think the live-view feature will really shine and 12Mpixels is worth having :)

I thought the same when i bought mine re: the live view, confess i have not used the live view at all yet since first testing one out, but i love the camera.

Where did you get that extra 2mp? 10.1 on the 40D or is there a newer/updated version?

sorry my error, I was thinking of the new 450D, which was also a possible choice, but the 40D is a more robust camera so I went for that.

No worries :) i wanted a second body as a back up to my 30D, got the 40 for the same price as a 30 so was happy with that.

I envy you for being able to see this beautiful animals in the open, but I also thank you for letting us see them in your pics :)

one of very few owls that is a daylight hunter, and this small pack of 5 is regular as clockwork :)

They must be pretty nice to photograph then.
I wish I had the time to study and picture the wildlife of my country.
Maybe some time soon... Right now I have to study for a test. :XD:
