I think I ate one of these when I was little. It was on a blackberry and I didn't see it. Boy did it taste nasty. Ewwwwwww.

nice shot, I haven't seen one quite like this in my garden but then there are so many bugs around the world. Is it harmful to your plants?

I think they eat almost anything but that doesn't worry me lol. I've let the back garden of the place I'm leasing run wild to attract the wildlife so no complaints from me.

We have them here but they're green, and we call them Stink Bugs!

Aw, man, stink bugs?! I didn't know they were also called Sloe Bugs.

Man, I found one in my rabbit's cage once and I picked it up. Ugh, I regretted that after my hands smelled like an awful musk.

This was 1/100 sec @ f16 iso 200 just supporting the camera with my elbows on the ground. Just practise I guess, one tip I would suggest is take two images using the 'motor' drive. Almost always the second frame will be sharper as you move the camera pressing the shutter down for the first frame, the second frame doesnt suffer from the this action.

I've seen some during my last trip... or at least something very similar, as what I came across was of the same shape but green

Good job!

There are alot of variations of shield bugs. I'm fairly sure this one is Sloe Bug - Dolycoris baccarum

I know this as a shield or stink bug. When squished, they give off the most disgusting stench. :puke:
They eat my cabbage and brussels sprouts plants.
