Blue Moon Partial Eclipse

Journal Entry: Thu Dec 31, 2009, 1:08 AM

Blue Moon and Partial Eclipse

If you are still sober and if there isn't any cloud cover and if you live in Europe poke your head out the door at 19:22 UTC. The pretty rare Blue Moon on the last day of the year is partially in the earths shadow.…

If you survive into the weekend then a glance into the skies in the early hours might be worth a look. From the 1st to the 5th of Jan the Quadrantids meteor shower… should be lighting the skies. The peak is due early morning on the 3rd

Happy New Year to you all, your family and your friends

Thanks Kevin for the reminder. I'm afraid we won't see a thing here in Belgium (too cloudy).

I wish you a Happy, prosperous and healthy 2010

It's cloudy here, in the south of UK, so no chance of seeing it. Though you never know... ;) Happy New Year!

hmm, that's half past 9 here, cool. prognosis is not good, but although it should be rainig now, it's sunny so maybe i get to see it. but i don't have my 70-200 here... if it will be visible, i'll have to use macro 100 :)
and those meteor showers, what direction should i look at? it is early morning but still i might get up to see it if it's visible from here.
thanks for the info, i knew about the blue moon, but not about the eclypse :)

The meteors orinate from the Bootes system so North East towards Polaris, the moon is still very high further east so I'd look into the dark skies north of the moon
